Let's chat. Soapbox.
Respect is a very desirable trait. In anyone. A friend, spouse, sibling, child, son or daughter, teacher, student... anyone.
I know a few girls who don't understand the concept of respect. And I'm going to vent to you about it.
2 things. 1. Cellphones are of the devil. They are distracting, and they are the reason that civilization is declining. (Actually it's going up because of technology... but in this case.. just focus on what I'm talking about. Tunnel vision.)
2. When you bring a friend to a mutual activity, bring them to include them and participate in the activity. It's not to hang out with them. It's not to talk about the super dramatic day they had at school. It's not to laugh super loud and distract everyone from the lesson you're learning that makes one young woman tear up, then suddenly she's not crying because she feel s the spirit. It's because the spirit has been broken.
That one young woman was me. I kept trying to give them dirty looks.
Here's the 411. I'm known as a nice person. I don't usually get mad at people directly. I tell others so I don't have a blow-up moment. Thus, this post. But so many times last night, I seriously wanted to turn around and say these things.
"Hey, shut up." "Girls, please." "Put your dang phones away." "Hey, can I borrow your phone for a second. Thanks. *I then proceed to chuck it across the room and kick them out.* Here's the kicker. "Hey. Seriously!?? If you aren't here for the right reason, get the HECK out. I don't want you here. And clearly you don't want to be here. So get out. Now. Leave. Come back when you know you're here to actually participate."
Problem with these. I'm nice. They'd be all like "What a brat. Don't tell us what to do."
Another problem. I'm totally against swearing. I hate it. I've never sworn on purpose. But these girls... they make me want to swear. The "Heck" up top... yeah different word in my mind. I also added "d....ang." to the first phone one.
It's upsetting. I hate it. I hate feeling like I want to swear. I hate being mad at young womens. I love young womens. OH! Did I mention that I'm Laurel Class President. Even greater. Fantastic even. (Where's the sarcasm symbol when you need it....)
Thanks for putting up with me. Seriously people. Be respectful. Not only you will learn something, but you'll help prevent the distraction of others learning as well. Thanks. Spread the word.
Love Jenny
