Silence is Golden

Where, when my aching grows?

Where, when I languish?

Where, in my need to know? Where can I run?

Where is the quiet hand, to calm my anguish?

Who, who can understand?

He, only one.

Where Can I Turn For Peace Hymn #129 (verse 2)

This was the opening song in Seminary 2 days ago.

We had a silent lesson. Silent lessons are lessons with absolutely no talking. The minute you walk into the room, you have to be quiet. It was so amazing. And kind of strange. My class is pretty awesome and we can get crazy. So it was nice to walk in and hear nothing. We couldn't talk at all. It was really cool. Anyway, the teacher teaches by powerpoint.

So we listened to soft instrumental music and read our scriptures before we actually started class. Then we listened to the opening song (above) and we got to say our own little prayer.

Our lesson was on the chapters in the Doctrine and Covenants where Joseph Smith is in Liberty Jail. I was teary-eyed the whole time. One of my favorite verses we got to read was

Doctrine and Covenants 121:7-8.

Heavenly Father is speaking to Joseph after Joseph prays for the saints.

(7)"My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions will be but a small moment; (8) And then , if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all of thy foes."

Isn't that amazing!

We watched a few videos. And we got to write in our seminary journals a lot. Really Really cool. I wrote almost 3 1/2 pages of notes and thoughts. Loved it.

One of the videos we watched was a mormon message. It is the one with Elder Holland (who is one of my favorite apostles). He testifies of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Everytime I hear Elder Holland speak, I feel the spirit so strongly, I start bawling. So it showed clips of the crusifiction, and His ressurection. He is speaking from the talk that he gave in General Conference around Easter sometime. I don't exactly remember when. But I felt the spirit so strongly. I WAS BAWLING! It was so amazing.

Then after everything, Sis. Brown got up and bore her testimony of Jesus Christ and the Church. She said for the last 8 minutes of class, that anyone could go up to the front and bear their testimony or share their experiences. So of course Nate Cutler got up and gave the most beautiful testimony. Then there was a pause after he sat down. Then we hear this "I love you guys!" Nate. What a Laura Larsen. (Hank Smith. Go listen to it.) Then Braxton got up and started crying which made me cry again. Then after a few more people, my heart started to pound really hard. So I prayed for confidence to get up and bear my testimony. Then immediately, my heart started to pound even faster and even harder! So I finally got up and bawled the whole time and I knew I couldn't look at Aubrey because that would make me cry even more so I bore my testimony. It was truly one of the most spiritual experiences I've ever had in my life. And everyone respected the lesson and was quiet the whole time. Angels were lining the room, I swear. They were all around us listening and comforting us the whole time. I love Angels. I like to imagine that they are with me all the time. Have you ever done that? It is pretty awesome.

Be excited for Seminary. If you don't get a silent lesson, request it. You won't regret it.

Have a most marvelous Thursday and don't forget who you are!
